So, I’m not even going to try. Check out all the cool projects Steeltown Entertainment does and support them for #13DOG. If you’ve never been to anything Steeltown has hosted, you’re missing out. Everything below is all from them…read on!

Every year, Pittsburgh Gives presents to you the opportunity to support local non profits such as Steeltown during the annual Day of Giving.  The Day of Giving 2013 will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013.  All donations during that 24-hour period will receive a pro-rated portion of the match pool.

On October 24, the Steeltown produced documentary A Shot to Save the World, will make its broadcast premiere on the Smithsonian Channel. This film tells the story of how the city of Pittsburgh developed the Salk polio vaccine with a special interview with Bill Gates talking about how his foundation, Rotary, and others are trying to finish the job and make the world polio free.

Steeltown has incubated and invested in other regionally made entertainment projects such as R.L. Stine’s Haunting Hour and Pittsburgh’s Next Reality Star, and supported other work such as the Animal produced documentary Blood Brother, which won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Sundance this year and will hit select theaters on October 18th.

Through partnerships with organizations like WQED, the Pittsburgh Film Office and local universities, Steeltown continues to support television and film projects and grow Pittsburgh’s entertainment Industry.

Steeltown Film Factory

The 5th Annual Steeltown Film Factory Competition will Kick Off on November 11 in the Three Rivers Film Festival with the Premiere of the 2013 Film Factory winner, My Date With Adam and the opening of submissions for the 2014 $30,000 competition prize and trip to Hollywood.


Over the past four years, Steeltown has inspired over 600 writers to entered their scripts into the competition, and to date, Steeltown has granted $122,500

to emerging talent to produce their short films in Pittsburgh.

Through its network of advisers from New York, Los Angelas and Pittsburgh, Steeltown is helping mentor emerging talent and fresh voices right here in our hometown.


Simply Put – No one does entertainment in the town built on steel better than Steeltown. Support them on Day of Giving this October 3rd.

Supporting Youth

Through ongoing workshops, screenings, presentations and events, Steeltown has reached thousands of teens and teachers since the launch of the Youth and Media program and the Take a Shot contest in 2010. 
Steeltown’s Take A Shot at Changing the World
This competition encourages students to actively use digital media to impact social change. Over the last three years 400 students have created films as part of Steeltown’s Take A Shot contest.
Youth & Media After School
Steeltown’s program worked with over 100 students from high-need communities as part of its after school initiative. In the 2013-2014 school year 86 students from local schools expressed 

their need for social change by exhibiting in two live events on stage.

Steeltown’s Youth and Media program is helping a new generation prepare for their futures in the digital age.
